Rear Door Locking Mechanism Price

Hi All

one thing after another with this 'awesome' car. Ive done a search read the threads on every board

Seems i need a new Locking Mechanism, does anyone know what im up for with one of these, $ wise?

Just trying to get a budget going, ive got $4000 locked away for the new mechatronics now this will put me back a bit as well

My god you have the worst luck i have ever heard of. Door lock should cost around $350 I think, if you can get one its an easy install on a mk5.

yeh.. thats about the right price but I got a used unit for $85 from a car being stripped..fitted at weekend and all good..good as new..VDUB..

Or buy one secondhand from a wrecker for around $100
I'm looking at one now out of a car with 49000k on it for $110.

just make sure its from a 2008 Onwards as the older ones were the more problem ones (2005/2007)...VDUB...

it looks right but looks like a fake.. them stickers on it are not the usual VW stickers on a lock they are just packing label stickers and its very cheap....prob be ok tho! usual ebay stuff....VDUB...

If I buy a second hand unit from a wrecker how will I know if I'm getting a 2008 or after? Or how do I know it won't have the same issues?

That's the main problem.
They know what year model they are out of but because they interchange from 07/04 to 02/09 (going of our system) they don't care if you get one or specifically want one from a 08 up.
Because I know I wouldn't knowingly supply an early one.

yeah my front passenger door actuator failed, and now the rear LHS door lock is intermittent. VW told me $500 for the front, but I found a 2nd hand one on eBay for $70 - now to get it fitted.....and find a rear lock (sigh)

I will ask the guy I got mine from if he has a LHF and LHR kicking around for you two guys....VDUB....
