My DSG Auto is having some issues. Its really jerky on the gear change when you have been sitting in traffic.
anyone else had this type of problem.
At last count about 600,000 world wide Look through the forum for threads about this
If you let it creep on the clutch like a manual you will have caused that by overheating the clutch plates Try this one for a start then do a search on DSG ISSUES
Helpful, but not applicable as the recall applies at the moment to the 7 speed box, which was never fitted to the MkV golf (although may have been to some later jetta's, I'm not sure)
The most common problem with the 6 speed box in the MkV's is the mecahtronic failing, and VW have extended the warranty on the DSG's to 5 years from delivery - again - as far as I know...

Was a slightly sarcastic reply to a poster who obviously doesnt read papers, this forum or watch TV as this has been plastered over all of them for a week.
See first reply for an even more sarcastic answer The answers are in the Thread I posted
The advice I gave was applicable to his problem as well (Slipping the clutches in traffic by creeping)

as you have posted in mk5 area I take it its a 6 speed DSG..so you have a dual wet clutch so its not the clutchs...it will be the mechatronics... is it between 2005-2007? if so there was a spat of units causing this issue...also try slow reversing with steady throttle...does it lurch backwards like u are on and off the throttle?? if so pop to a dealer and they can read the build date of the mechatronics too see if its in that range or not....VDUB...

its still worth checking like VDub said. If it does you never know what the dealer will say until you ask. Until then its all smoke
(at least not literally )
Prev 2008 R32 3 door DSG.
Prev 2010 S3 Sportback Stronic.
Now Lexus IS350 F Sport
Well mine is 8 year old FSI. So I don't think I will be getting any help from VW.
your first post says its a DSG auto! DSG is not auto...if its DSG it will say this on the selector lever and try VW regarding the mechatronics...if its a AUTO then more than likely needs a box overhall....as has a valvebody not mechatronics...VDUB.....

I thought it was DSG auto but now I will have to check that.
There were two types of automatic transmission fitted to a Golf, more broadly categorised as:
1. Double clutch (known as DSG in VW speak)
2. Torque converter
A Mk5 Golf with a 2.0 FSI petrol engine will have been fitted with type number 2, which is an Aisin TF-60SN unit (known as 09G in VW speak when fitted to a Golf). A search using Google may bring up some hits regarding the gearbox's various faults and foibles.
