  • Am I the only Happy Jetta owner in OZ

Why am I happy with my 2010 103td with DSG?

    85000klm
Never had a problem, of any sort, averaging 4.7l per 100klm. I am mature (read old) and drive same as anyone else that respects others on road and their vehicle. No saint, Jetta can be scary fast if I want it to.

So why are all and sundry giving the cars so much crap, is it monkey see, monkey do, peer pressure, jelousy or what?.

Should I be afraid to go driving now?

Again I ask am I the only happy VW owner????

I think there are probably many more happy owners than unhappy ones. The unhappy ones just make more noise.

You're not alone mate, I have had my GTI for 5 1/2 years, hardly had anything go wrong with it, starts first time very time, easily the very best car I have ever owned, possibly the best car anyone I know has owned, we love it that much!
This VW media beatup is a bandwagon thing, people will jump on and exaggerate their stories to fit in with the crowd. Personally I'm not fazed, and would gladly purchase a new VW again in the future.

I think I like my Jetta more than my GTI. Two totally different cars, Jetta is nicer to be in, golf more fun to drive.
I'm actually looking for another one.

Got to agree, the Jetta has been fantastic since new. No issues with the DSG, and the TDI is awesome on the open road....as well as the more twisty bits. lol

As much as I enjoy the Jetta, it's hard to say I haven't had problems. I've had the engine replaced twice and gearbox once on my 2008 7spd DSG petro. My wife drives it day in day out (I drive a Skoda Octavia vRS) and complains about shuddering and loss of power nearly all the time. The dealership service guys for the last 5 years have just acted dumb or claim they never find the problem. It's not the VW brand it just happens to be a particular model. This recall is definitely something that should have happened long ago. I even posted back in 2009 on here sighting the DSG problems. VW Australia really need to pick up their game if they don't want to ruin the great rep VW vehicles have in general. I just want the problem fixed and I'm happy to hold onto the Jetta! It really is a good car... When it's running the way it should.

I love my Jetta! I've owned about 10 cars (I'm only 24 too) and the little Jetta is by far my favourite. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

I love my Jetta 147FSI - I have a 150km round trip to and from work everyday and it makes me smile everytime I get in it.
No problems ever with engine or gearbox. When it came to downsizing from our family car (a Territory) I went straight to a Tiguan and haven't regretted that either.

I must agree with earlier comments about unhappy people making more noise BUT.

My 2005 golf (now 130k, dealer & VW specialalist serviced every 8-10km) was perfect for the first 6 years, but after that it has been the worst car I've had anything to do with. Started with throttle body needing replacement $1000, then alternator needing replacement $1300, then first injector failure leaving us unable to make child care before it closed, 2100$ out of pocket because VW were still "unaware" of any problems at that stage. Then AC system replacement $2000 (compressor disintegrates and pumps metal through the system). Then Injector Failure again, this time dealer cover work under warranty and assures me it's better than new. 5 months later engine failure again (Injector/harness/dealer has no idea), leaving us stranded, unable to make child car by closing time again - back to dealer (tow truck driver comments on how "you've done this before") and dealer reports "they really can't be sure it won't stop again" WTF! mrs now flat refuses to drive it - Its gone! Ironically when people came to look at it they reported it's condition to be the best they have found.

From new to 6 yrs of age (3 weeks after extended warranty ended to be exact) it was the best car ever and we loved it. Sorry but there are valid reasons for the poor reputation out there now.
