Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Boost / Fuel - something leak?

I seem to have something astray with my 06 GTI has an APR stage 2 with 77000 on the clock.

The car is lacking power unless your really putting your foot down. Used to come on too boot really early and hate to use the word but zippy no turbo lag and lots of low end power.

I have replaced the DV for a "D" revision and changed out the cam follower. Seems to hold boost longer after the DV change.

After poking around i did bump this (below) and pressure did come out. Like air out of a tire. It depleted pretty quickly so i stared up the car, let it run for a bit and just slightly touched again and it leaked very easily. Is this normal? could this be my boost leak?

I did try and test out my PCV. Removed the oil stick for a couple of sec's wile the car was idle and it did go rough and returned to normal one replaced. Seen around it will continue to idle normal if PCV is gone.

I can blow air through the green end but not through the red into the PCV. I think this is also a sign the PCV is ok.

Last bit of my long post...

At highway speeds the car has little power and really struggle's to get going. put my foot down in 4th going 100+ the other day it shuddered and really struggled to go an extra 10-20km with out taking a lot of time.

Before if i did the same i was at 140+ to over take with no effort.

Sorry for the long post, heading to the Great Ocean Road on the long weekend and willing to try any thing to get her back to normal. Thanks for any advice
