Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • '06 Jetta wheels onto '05 Sportline Golf

    Hi All,

I've been a long time reader of this forum, but certainly haven't been an active participant. I'm fairly sure I know the answer, but I'm hoping someone else can confirm. Can you/are there issues with bolting on a set of 17" Jetta (Turbo DSG) wheels onto a same generation Golf Sportline? Are the offsets the same? What about rolling diameter?

I currently have a Jetta with the 17's, and we have just bought my wife a Sportline. The wheels on the Sportline are less than good condition, so I'm thinking I'll give her the Jetta wheels and get myself something else (19's perhaps).

On a separate note, any thoughts on rims? Tempe Tyres?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

    Regards and Thanks

Yes, they'll fit with no issues.

I'd be careful if you want to go 19", especially if you ever intend to go lower as you'll need to keep tyre width low and then you'll have trouble get legal tyres on account of the load index. My suggestion is buy some wheels off this forum - there's a lot that come up in the parts for sale section - best to stick to some factory OEM wheel that you like so you know it fits. Lots of people say bad things about Tempe but I've never had an issue with them - All depends on what you want to spend really.

Yes the 17" will go straight onto the Comfortline.

I'd go 18"s rather than 19". Mainly so that you don't have to worry about the short sidewall & the extra weight & sometimes harsh ride that 19" have.

If you are really keen on 19" then scour this forum & vwgolf.net & ozaudi & cracker as there are some bargains that come up in 19" (due to the above issues).

I'm a long time & happy customer of Tempe Tyres.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think my mind has been changed. 18" it is. Great to know there's help out there. Cheers.
