Evening all,
Just showing off my new baby that I picked up a month ago (it's taken up until now to take any good photos). It's a 2006 Golf Sportline 2.0FSI 6-manual with a sunroof and metallic paint with 66,000 km's on it and it's fantastic so far. My parents have an Octavia RS and my brother a Mk5 GTI so it's not entirely unfamiliar but I've loved the Sportline (the same spec was GT in the UK so that's what I will call it) ever since it came out. The body-coloured trim, front foglamps and nice 8-spoke alloys go a long way to make it look a lot better than the Comfortline IMO, and especially the dual-zone climate control set-up. Yes, I don't have the automatic headlights/wipers and rear armrest of the Comfortline, but meh.
As for plans for the Golf, I'm not really sure entirely. A name would be great (I'm thinking Ralf so far), but after than turfing the RCD310 would be great and the RCD510 would be even better (finally an iPod input!). The headlights need to be cleaned. Possibly the projector-beam version of the optional xenons (same look as the xenons but with projector bulbs instead - looks much meaner IMO) and when the (brand new Pirelli's) are no more, I want to pick up some 17-inch 'Estorill' wheels from overseas (a wheel option that we never got here with the Mk5). I'd like to VDCS cornering foglamps, disable the seatbelt warning chime (it comes on as soon as the battery is turned on - that is so annoying!) and enable the auto-locking. Possibly electric-folding mirrors one day (they fold in about an inch, but I fold them every time I park). The final piece of the puzzle would be new number plates and I think that will be coming first, Euro's here I come.
Other than that I plan to leave it mostly stock because I already love it that much. It just does everything so well! Will keep y'all updated on progress. As for now, enjoy a few pics at Bobbin Head (feat. a mate's new 1-Series with 19" M3 CSL wheels).
