Not to sound like I'm siding with the dealership (and I'm not!) but if there was a car on show at a motor show, wouldn't it be from VW Australia, and not a dealership - Unless VW themselves have it, I'm not sure why a dealership would lend a car to a motor show... unless I'm missing something here?

There would be a few R32's floating around as demo's in OZ I'd like to think!
If it turns out to be your car mate, I'd demand it be removed from the stand, and delivered, IMMEDAITLY, or demand a substantial payment for usage of the car, and if all else fails, get Anna Coren on their ass. Remember, there's pleny of media peoples at car shows!

Are you sure they mean delivered to the dealer? It took my car over a week to be delivered from the dock into Patricks Autocare(where they do all the compliancing etc) Patricks then are given a nominal two weeks before the despatch off to the dealers. Then the dealers have to clean and rego the car etc. This could also explain the time??? Just ask them to show you on their computer system??MYO8 GTI Leather Roof and the Ipod

There was a few cases when the MkV GTI first came out where dealers were putting in bogus orders for cars then basically selling them to someone while still on the boat then if someone payed more they would get the car....disgraceful but true
I wouldnt put anything past them, I would go check it out, if its your car...kick up the biggest stink ever right at the stand...i would pay to see the look on their faces1986 MkII Golf GTI 16V (Sold), 2005 MkV Golf GTI (Sold), 2007 Polo GTI (Sold), 2011 Polo 66TDI (Selling), 2012 Passat 125 TDI Bluemotion, 2013 Scirocco R (Due October!)

TBH I don't think it would be used at the motor show, I would think that VW would have cars for that specifically.
More likely is that it has been damaged during delivery and is getting repaired. I know it's not a nice thing to say, but it's the most likely.
My last car (a Freelander) got involved in an accident after I bought it, and while going around to some of the better panel beaters in BNE to get a quote, I was amazed by the number of new vehicles (undelivered) in the yards of the panel beaters.

I have a GTI that landed in Bris on 9th of Jan and I am still waiting. Its driving me nuts. I was told it hadn't even left the last week.
FYI I met one guy who had a GTI on the same boat, bought at Austral and he picked it up and drove it away on the 15/1/08.
Going absoulutely nuts after 4 1/2 month wait.

Mine came through Austral, and took nearly four weeks from offloading to giving me the keys.
Excuses were all as above - I ended up getting mine 1st March having been promised 2nd Feb. To be fair though, Patricks were a big part of the problem, another part was the dealer sales guy. THe person you need to speak to who will give you a straight answer is the delivery coordinator (the sales guys are supposed to hand off to the DCs but certain of them don't including the guy I mention below).
As to Austral sales people who think they can drive and routinely flog demo cars if the guy's name starts with a W - his ability is 90% in his mind and I wouldn't let him anywhere near a car I owned.

Sounds like it is within standard delivery time void. Mine was 'delivered' to the port, were I assume it either sat on the docks or at the dealership in limbo. I think it was on the docks, waiting for patricks (always get the blame) or for a truck to load up all the assigned cars for one delivery hit.
Anyways, go to the Motorshow - I really doubt that it will be on the floor (unless you have THE full spec R32). If on the off chance it's there, get in and drive it home
As for test driving a sold car... that is a ghastly practice that I hope never happens at VW.

VWA have a three door R32 driving around in Melbourne sponsoring the Queer Film Festival I'm sure they could use that at the motorshow, minus a few stickers. Good luck hope you egt your car soon, the hold up could be at Patrick's..B6 Passat Wagon No KESSY

Motor show
Hi all,
If I were you, I would visit the dealer just to put your mind at ease.
I worked at a Brisbane dealership a few years back and was a company rep who did a few stints at the motorshow. The Motor company concerned asked/told dealers what cars they had to supply for display at the motorshow.
I would not be worried out the mileage they put on cars going to and from the motorshow, but the damage done to the cars is unbelievable. From scratches, theft of items off the cars...the number of engine oil dipsticks we lost was amazing..down to outright vandalism.
I'm not trying to scare you but I wouldn't want it to be my car at the show2010 90TSI Manual / Comfort Pack / United Grey

I'd check the VIN if you see an R32 that looks like your specs on the stands. I'll be going tomorrow ... taking pics and posting them up. So if you're planning to go later ... I'll get some close-ups of R32 VINS and post those up.
