  • Tyres for GTI

Those of you who have replaced yours within the last 6 months, what have/had you replaced the C2's with? Mine are 35K/4years old and are due soon...

    Brand/Type?
    $?
    KM so far?
    Good/Alright/Bad?

    Thanks,

Continental Sport Contact 3's $1100 for the set, done 10,000kms on them, really good, wanted to go back to CSC2's but they have been discontinued after rubbish Bridgestone Adrenalin's which were apparently like for like by our lease company, they were noisy as ever!

You shouldn't have too much trouble picking up Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (PS3) for $250 a tyre, Conti CSC3's should be similar.
I got PS3's, and they are good, but are wearing faster than I'd like, but maybe I'm just driving harder these days.?
There are other tyre threads on these forums that will tell you more.

I had the Nero's on my MK5 GTI and didn't like them at all..... C3's were good. The C5's are out now.

I currently have the original Continental CS2's on my car and they have done 83,000kms. I find the CSC2's quite noisy though.

I was deciding between some Yokohama's and Bridgestone's and ended up going with the Bridgestone Potenza S001's. These are $ 289 per tyre, but were buy 3 get the 4th free - so 4 new S001's are $ 867. They get fitted on Saturday.

I got Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 put on recently. They seem to have got good reviews as good all round wet/ dry performance tyres. $239 each at Jax but I got them in size 235/40R18. Looks-wise I know other people have had issues with the rather pronounced rim protectors but I have new wheels so happy to compromise on looks if they help protect my rims.

Getti where did you get them from? I'm due some in next few weeks and that sounds like a good price

Do you have any rubbing with 235/40R18 tyres?

No rubbing at all even with four people on board. I'm looking at getting some coilovers which will lower the front by 1.2" and the rear by 1". From what I've read on the forums even this setup shouldn't cause any rubbing although I'm expecting that there could be rubbing if car is fully loaded.

I put 235/40/18 on my standard R32 rims, no rubbing, sit better, cheaper than 225's and made speedo error 2 k less

Just in case for those who are unaware, fitting 235/40 R18 tyres on 7.5 J x 18 wheels will render the vehicle unroadworthy.
