You wont get any argument from me. $795 is absolute BS but i guess i was stupid enough to pay it.
Tell us about your TDI GT Sport. Is it manual ir DSG?
What other options did you get, how do you find it ?
Ended up getting the DSG, ive never owned an auto before, but was getting a bit tired of sitting in traffic with a manual recently. Being originally from UK ive had my fair share of diesels, mostly peugeot 306 DTurbos, about 3 of them, also had a fleet golf IV TDi 110 at one stage for a few months and loved that. Last car i bough, about 18 months ago was a 99 Landrover Freelander TD, and at the time i bought it over a VR6, which i regretted. hence this time i was looking at GTi but as soon as i saw they had brought the GT TDI in i was sold. it all happened pretty quickly, i put my LR on carsales mid jan, sold it and picked up the Golf on the 25th. luckily i found one the exact spec that i wanted in stock at south yarra.
Im mightily impressed with the car, had it down to lorne yesterday, and i wasnt taking it easy at all, the manual works brilliantly, still dont trust auto box fully yet, so prefer to do my own down shifts etc. managed to get exactly 5.0l on the way to geelong, and by the time i got back it had only risen to 5.5 even with a lot of lead footing up thru barwon downs way.
It comes close to replacing my last performance vehicle, although not quite, i had a yamaha R1 for a couple of years that i sold about a year ago, and i just used my bike fund up buying this. guess ill have to wait til later in the year to get another bike.
