Also had good experience with Daniel (the irish dude) at highway motors in Brisbane. He was helpful, fun to talk to and very not pushy.

I had great dealings with Louie from Highway Auto Group, but he only does Fleet , so you would only be dealing with him if you got fleet like through a broker which I mentioned in a previous post. I didn't actually deal with any of the usual VW sales staff so I can't comment on them.

We also used a broker - carbroker.com.au. They were great. We also looked at discountnewcars.com.au and privatefleet.com.au but carbroker.com.au won when it came to service.

Unfortunately this was a couple of years ago (Ordered January 06, arrived June 06) and I don't remember exactly what we paid, but I think this is correct to within $500. We picked it up in Melbourne then drove it back to Adelaide before registering it.

White Golf GTI with DSG, nothing else: $40990 drive away from the dealer, then stamp duty and registration in Adelaide.

My deal for an MY08 R32 was:

          MY08
          R32
          5Door
          Sunroof
          Parking Sensors
          Bluetooth

With fleet discount was just under 57k Driveaway.

The other half recently bought an Audi S3 optioned with sunroof and heated seats for 62k Driveaway!

Amazing the discounts offered for a fleet purchase - if you can get it that is.

Forgot to add the sports steering wheel to that S3 deal too...the standard S3 wheel is round (looks cheapish in comparison - IMO)

The S3 deal was a bargain!

Mine was a couple of years ago,'06 2.0TDI comfortline Golf, manual, metalic paint, sunroof....$36,000 drive away. The deal also included 3 free services, a promotion at the time by VW Aust. After the order was placed I added the protection kit for $519.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

I think what he means is, 41K drive away from the dealer, not including rego and stamp duty..

$52K, I have a official barloworld price list with me, for a 5dr DSG GTI w/o option and discount, it still only $47,323 drive away, even add metallic paint and sunroof, i would only expect $50K if you ever walk in and never ask for a bargain, how could it be $52K ...

Well in my case, the biggest is 10% discount on car price plus another $500 dealer discount on top of that and $900 only for delivery charge, plus only $250 for CTP, ended up almost $7K discount, so I guess my company must have a very good relationship with either the lease company or the dealer ...

My other colleage wants to get a Honda Civic as a salary package, only bloody getting $300 discount and cheaper ORC, ended up he got a better deal walking into a dealer himself ...

I got $5,700 off a Passat wagon with the corporate program, wonder if they spply similar to a GTI.. Plus the base price they used before the discount , gst exc was $40,900... Normal retail drive away would be over 52k..We get a corporate discount rate through work., but i Had bought it through my previous company. Don;t forget stamp duty differs across different states as well.
