  • Battery recommendation for Mk5 GT Sport?

    Hi Guys,

Been doing a bit of google'ing to find a replacement battery for my Gt Sport, but I cant seem to find any topics in discussion of what to go for.

I have an amp and a sub, and i'm looking for something better than the OEM varta that came in the car.

There has been discussion of the Deka 9a34R however batteryworld told me that this battery would be too tall for my car?

Can anybody make any recommendations as I will be going in there tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    V

Did Batteryworld offer you any other battery model to fit your car... they are experts aren't they?

basically get the biggest CCA battery to fit on your battery tray.

now there are limiting factors with late model VW's... the Factory Battery cover or box means this limits your physical size.
without the battery cover or box you could fit a battery maybe upto 10cm longer = more CCA for your doof doof

Most VW's use a battery with recessed terminals - this also limits your choice.

I have never had a problem getting a bigger battery for my vehicles - rock up to a battery seller - fit the biggest battery you got that will fit in there mate!

Thanks mate, I will see what they have, I think he mentioned an Optima battery as I was asking about the Deka and he said the Optimas were cheaper anyway.

I just got an OEM Varta one from the dealer.

Mine lasted 4 years and they had more CCA this time round so it made sense to me.

Ended up getting the Varta Silver Top (Higher end model to the OEM) for cheaper than the price the VW dealership quoted me on a battery so I am quite happy, car is starting on first crank which is fantastic, hadn;t realised how bad it had gotten.

            Result!

Mine was dead as a dodo so I had to react.

            Where from?
