Anyone give me some tips how to change the battery on my 2009 Jetta. Actually only want to loosen it to change the sleeve and the battery sits on the tabs at the bottom of it. This model has a soft fabric battery cover or sleeve instead of the more conventional hard ones.
Disconnected the battery but gave up when it looks like whatever holds the battery firm is not obvious. When I connected the battery again the radio worked without a reset and all the scary lights on the dash went out when I drove it 50 meters down my driveway. The manual seems to indicate that changing the battery is beyond mere mortals and best left to the workshop people. Probably only 1 or 2 bolts ? nuts?
    Please ? Anyone!

Once you have the lines off the terminals there is 1 bolt. 13mm I think. It holds down a plate. It is in the middle of the long side of the battery on the engine side.
Remove the bolt and the metal plate, wiggle the battery around to get it out from under the ridge that holds down the side opposite the bolt.
Its not hard really. 10min max to pull out the old and pop in the new one.
I actually spent more time getting the plastic box back together, but it sounds like you don't have that issue.
