  • Particulate Filter Jetta

    Hello All,

I am considering the purchase of a new Jetta TDI.
Does the '07 Jetta TDI have a particulate filter?
The November 2007 comparison test of Jetta TDI vs Mazda 6 TDI states that the Jetta does not have such a filter.
Can someone pease confirm or otherwise the fitment of this filter?
Further, what about the other TDI VW models....Polo,Golf etc....do they have particulate filters fitted ?

    Look forward to the replies,
    Richard.

only the golf gt sport tdi and the passat 125kw tdi have particulate filters

none of the other models have particulate filters except for maybe on one of the touaregs and maybe one of the van models.

the dealer may tell you that some of the models do but that is a load of bs if they do.

from my own experience, a dpf is just a big fat pain in the ass http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=11209

I've got a 128Kw Transporter with a DPF. I haven't had any problems with the DPF (1 year, 16,000KM so far) but I don't drive in slow, stop-start traffic (this seems to cause problems in getting the DPF up to sufficient temperature to burn off the accumulated soot).

I do like the fact that I can give it a good bootful without creating a large cloud of black diesel smoke behind me (but some people seem to enjoy the black cloud, regarding it as some kind of diesel "badge of honour").

If you have a DPF fitted you are supposed to use VW 507.00 oil (except for early R5 motors, which should use 506.01 according to VW)
