  • does anyone have a pic of a mk5 gti with a mini euro plate on the front?

Hey guys. Wanna get euro plates for my car soon and debating over whether to get either 1 mini one for the front and a normal one for the back or just 2 normal sized ones?

The car doesnt have any plate mount on the front so i was thinking maybe the mini one would look a bit cleaner but having a hard time visualising it.

I think if i was to go full size i might try and source the oem plate holder.

This is my Jetta with a mini-euro ... know it's not the same but will give you an idea of size. Mine is drilled straight into the bumper.

I put thick washers behind it to make it stand a bit proud of the bumper.

I ended up getting the full size personalised euro plates after alot of debating with myself.
I just though it would look more european if they were full size. I did see a jetta today though with a mini euro on the back and thought "that looks ok but i think the full size would look better."

Now all i need is the actual car to fit the plates to. I see the plates everyday sitting there at home reminding me of the painful wait until i get my GT Sport mid march.

with all due respect - and this is only stating my opinion...but I can't quite get my head around slim line euro plates.....you may as well just grab standard slim lines as they are the same size.

One of my neighbours has a hot looking red 5Dr GTI with euro plates. Standard size on both ends and it looks amazing. I think standard size is the way to go.

I bought euro's for mine and they look the biz. (Dealership has mine atm)

slim line euros give you the option to mix front and rear. so small front. and big rear

every other plate option they are identical. So yeah. Im thinking slim front. full size rear. cos the MK5 doesnt have a recess in the front

                  hey Tim
I got my 5 dr with euro plates. I too considered the mini version for the front but ended up going full size. The dealers plate holder is ok - not covered apart from the framed border and they just clip in. I didnt get the front number plate base holder which I thought came with the car. I was a bit pissed with to begin with as the cover is screwed directly into the bumper. But it looks good the way they mounted it in the end on to the bumper. I did have a whinge about the holes behind but at the end of the day im probably never going to remove the plates. Full size is the way to go for both front and rear.

                      yeah its all sweet mate.
Im just trying to arm myself with information b4 i lay down my dollars.

and maestro. Your car makes a good argument towards the full size plate!

Its what i found with my mk3. the plate actually enhances the look of the car instead of jsut being something needed for rego
