  • Anyone know codes for GTi parts?

I'm after the two piece lower front lip from a GTi and the side skirts to add to my GT ( along with any mounting clips or hardware necessary ) and went down to my local dealers spare parts division to ask for prices. Unfortunately they are completely worthless cause they have no idea what the parts I'm after are called or what code they are. They printed me out a sheet that shows every part on the front of the Golf ( and I mean every part including all the parts from the standard model all the way to the R32 ) and said can you identify the part you are after?
There was no way I could figure out what part I wanted or which substructure I needed to attach it. The same with the skirts - they were easily identified but there seemed to be about 4 different type of parts designed to go with it to mount them.

Can someone please help and just give me a list of what parts I need to buy to get what I'm after?

it's a joke. You'd think the Spare Parts manager at VW would know.

The same happened to me, i called up and asked for prices on some parts and the dude had no clue...

I know the code for a GTi but I dont want to buy the car, just the front lip and side skirts and all the parts listed are some long 10 digit code and until you select that part if wont say if its for a MY08 GTi or whatever model and even when you select that part it and can verify that it is actually for a MY08 GTi it wont give you a description of what that part it is. How the hell am I supposed to know what an RGH64534353245BVS is? The black and white drawing of the part isn't any help either cause you can't tell what it is.

I had the same experience - all they know what to do is to input your VIN# and read off the result. If you want a part from another model, their eyes glaze over & roll back in their heads.

After a minor parking accident I want to replace my rear valence with a GTI valence, as I think it'll look better than the GTs once it's painted. The guy was totally confused, printing out pages & pages of rear bumper options and telling me that none will fit the GT except for the original part. And that it was going to be waaaay more expensive too (he couldn't tell me a price, but he just _knew_ it probably would be). He didn't know that all the Golfs use the same upper bumper, that the GT and GTI can swap lower bumper & valence, and that (except for the exhaust) they can use the R32s as well.

Maybe you could try getting prices from tmtuning or oemplus as well as your dealer. It may end up taking just as long and the same price too?

You reckon that's bad? The Gti side skirts came in for my GT Sport about a month ago and I'm still waiting to get them fitted. I took the car in when they first arrived to have them fitted and was told it would be ready the same day. After two days I hadn't received a call to say my car was ready, so I rang up to find out what the story was. I was told that I could come and get the car, but that the skirts had not been fitted, because they had arrived without the fastening bits and pieces!

So a month on and I'm still waiting for some silly nuts and bolts to arrive from Singapore so they can fit the skirts. Ah well, it's no big deal really, and on the bright side, my Gti rear bumper has arrived in the meantime, so when the nuts and bolts finally arrive, I can get it all fitted and colour coded at once.

Poyta, I'm going to ring the manager on Friday if I haven't heard from him already, and I'll try to remember to ask him for the part numbers. When I get the final prices, I'll let you know too, so you can compare them with what your dealership is asking.

Hopefully the Koni FSD / Eibach prokit combo I have ordered from the US will arrive about the same time. 8-)

haha its true, they do generally struggle with part numbers.....you should try getting parts for the Mk2, they usually just let me jump on their computer and find it myself

The lower front spoiler piece is 1KO 805 903D I dont know the lower centre piece or skirts. They would need removal to get them.

I am a poor sod who works in parts..
                    No not VW.
The computer parts catalog's are so complex you cant even access them with out a VIN number. They also have so many options for One (1) part, there may be 10 different part numbers for it, depending on the month, year, color and so on....
Not like the old days when you had good old parts books. or the electronic catalog when you could just browse to what you wanted..

My crash repairer has had the same trouble I did in ordering a GTI rear valence for my GT.

The parts system seems incapable of ordering a part that doesn't "belong" to your VIN number!

All I need is the part number for a GTI rear valence - can anyone out there help? ?:

PS Also can anyone confirm that the part is a direct swap? Do I, or do I not need new rear wheel arch liners (I don't think so, but I remember reading something about that possibility)

What Volkswagen punters like us need is a site like this...

I can find all the part numbers I want in my own time, print the relevant page, and go into the MINI dealer and order the stuff I need in no time.
