Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 6 Speed Manual Gear Box in a 2.0 TFSi Jetta

Hi all, I found out yesterday at Denlo Parramatta that you can buy a 6 Speed Manual (with a clutch pedal not DSG) on the 2.0 Turbo FSi Jetta. I knew better than the salesman trying to tell me about the car but shows how much some of these sales guys know their product.

If anyone is at Denlo Parramatta, the guys name was Alex (something) and he is the commercial manager there. I just thought it was funny.

    Thats terrible.

Have posted this in another thread but when I was buying my car I had a similar experience. I'm abit of a softie though so I played along with it so that he didnt feel so useless! hehe

When I was buying my car the salesperson didn't know of the MY08 changes to the vehicle. Was even told that they couldnt understand why people were buying R32's and not plonking their dosh on a loaded Holden Calais. (That last one made me cringe)

I don't even work with cars yet know more than most salespeople. Car mags and the internet help I guess....My partner just bought an Audi recently and she couldn't even tell us if the sports wheel was standard spec.

When I first decided to try the R32 back in July last year I arranged with Barloworld to take an R32 for a spin. Arranged a time with the sales guy for the following week. I got to the dealership and waited around half an hour for him to finish a sale (that part i didn't mind as he was doing his job). After he finished up with the customer he told me the R32 was sold that week and that I could take the GTI for a spin as they were essentially the same car.

    WTF?

    Useless.

Why am I not surprised? My dealings with them when I bought my Jetta could only be described as comical only I wasn't laughing!

I'm not the slightest bit surprised.

When I was looking at a Comfortline TDI, I was asked what extras I wanted. I said I was really only interested in ESP. The Highway VW (Brisbane) salesboy nodded in agreement and said that I will be amazed to find out how much easier it makes reverse parking

They obviously don't even look at the VWA brochures.

He must have been talking about the Extra Sensory Parking option!

That's fantastic news. Is it a special factory order - last time I looked at the Jetta brochure the 2.0TFSI was DSG only?

I'm reading this as the salesman telling the OP the manual box was availalable when the OP already knew that this is not so. Shows how much the salesman knows about the product he is selling.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

                Cheers

I just re-read the initial post - looks like I got excited and jumped to conclusions

I wish VW would introduce a manual TFSI Jetta.

Well Alex at Denlo will sell you one, then you could sue VW because they did not deliver what they said they would.......you may end up with a manual then
