Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

the headunit will support mp3 cds, whereas 07 and prior does not. apart from that, i'm not sure what else is different. i remember reading there is a post about this somewhere.

I was just doing a search and found this:

        between MY07 to MY08:
        - 6cd changer will now play MP3 files, full MDF on the instrument panel, slight change to antenna. blue graphite colour to replace shadow blue.

They've also changed the rims from 18" Zolder to 18" Omanyl and i *think* the 'R' badge at the bottom of the steering wheel is new.

The MP3 CD and newer rims were my only reasons for waiting an extra month before i bought the car

They have a full size MFD, but apparently it doesn't display the gears anymore.
On another forum: "The gear display in D & S mode was removed mid '07 MY. No you can't change it."
