Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anybody Running Projector Fog's?

Anybody running projector fog lights on their GTI?

Looking at replacing my reflectors as they're getting condensation inside/misting up.

    Opinions welcome.

Any recommendations on the best (value) place to buy?

    Cheers lads.

Nor have I, they may have been fitted to some overseas versions, perhaps an option?

Been running these on my Jetta for a few years now. No dramas at all. VW wouldn't option these on the TDI so I retrofitted and they have been fine.

Are your fogs OEM (Hella) or after market?

They are basically identical to the ones you have linked to. Mine, however, came from eBay. I think I paid $60 for the pair, without mounting hardware (screws and inserts which I had to source at the local stealership). Then the open grilles (eBay) and the harness for CECM integration (TMTuning).

The first of the mk5 gti had projector fogs, the ones with the better engine internals.

I have these as standard on my 05 GTI. They are actually a slightly different shape to the newer reflector style. I tried to change the grilles to the open style but they would not fit over the lights, so I just repainted the stock ones.

                  Thanks for your input guys.

                  Interesting about the different fogs.

Hey Tony, would you be kind enough to remove the fog surround covers and take a few photo's for me.

Interesting in that I have a set of aftermarket projectors (designed for GTI mk5) which don't fit into my GTI fog grilles properly, the housings are a different shape/angle.

                  Here are the photo's:
