Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

what a classic comment... honestly.. what difference would taking the car home and leaving it till the next day to see what happens???
just typical of the ****heads that are in the servicing depts of VW.

we had our regulators replaced on our new beetle cabrio years ago... they rang me before i went to pick it up to say that they dropped one of the windows while trying to install it... Do'h!! so then they had to wait till the next day for one to come from sydney.. then it had to be tinted and installed. got a loan car for the next day then went to pick it up in the afternoon - this was a friday.. everything worked ok as far as we could tell. window problem had been fixed. sunday we are heading out to a vw show and stop at the servo to fill up. press the fuel release button on the door and nothing happens!! ended up they had not connected the switches when they put the door trim back on!!

Sounds like the doctor telling you to go home, have a couple of panadol and a lie down, and call me in the morning. Bloody useless!
And yes, the dealer in question haven't got a clue about sales either, i.e. when someone is checking out a display GTI for 20-30mins, yes they are interested in buying it, ya idiots - MTCW.

Geez, the info in this thread really worries me. I've got a 30k service coming up, which is the first one for me since owning the GTI (bought 1yo 2nd hand). I was going to take it to Chatswood CC as that would be our closest dealer. I think its just too risky especially if you don't have any problems to begin with .. theres a chance you will leave with some!

I think i will find a local specialist for servicing.

So true, so after my bad experiences with D at Parramatta I am pleased to say I have nothing but praise for the team at Nepean Motor Group at Penrith.

The car is running as it should (great!) and everything is working as it should after the 15000km service and the supply of a new key and re-coding.
