Just wondering if anyone got the dealer to do the window tinting and 5th dimension or any other sort of paint protection done.
What about the supposed "Scratch n' Dent Safeguard" in the 5th dimension package?
Simple... DON'T DO IT!!!!! Having worked in dealerships save your money and get tinting done elsewhere, you pay $350-$500 for tint that costs the dealership $150 and its crap quality. As for paint protection... the only way i know to truely protect paint is to spray the car in tar!!!! IE: waste of money, just follow a few easy things and your paint job will always look good, I dont care how long they say you can leave bird caca on their paint protection rip off of a thingy
I had paint protection on my 200sx a few years back and it always looked so good after washing.
I agree that you'd have to be having a fit to agree to let the dealer rip you off.
As you might have guessed I'm not a fan of dealerships and most of the 'aftermarket' stuff they sell on new cars is purely there for profit... they make anywhere between 50-100% profit on aftermarket add ons and most often than not its poor quality, and then they leave the customer to think that its covered by factory warranty coz it was dealer fitted. Just another way for them to make money, they act like they are your best friend and doing you a favour whilst they are raping your wallet!!!
The sales guy was very disappointed when I opted out of his "favours". Through a friend of a friend I have a contact at Motor One which would hopefully save me $$$ if I decided to get them to do anything.
Not a fan of dealerships hey? Could have sworn I felt the love coming from your posts!

I did it once, and wouldn't do it again (5th dimension). Tree crap still tarnished the paint, but you've got to be under the right (wrong) light to see it. But maybe after I get a couple of scratches resolved, I may feel differently!
Definately DO the tinting after market.
The other sting is that you pay stamp duty on the FINAL price of the car (which includes the extras that they get done outside for you!) Double whammy.
Must agree on all points raised, I went and did my tint aftermaket. Cost me the same but difference was I opted for the bolle tinting which has 25 years warranty and is black as the ace of spades. you cant see in my car at all during the day which is fantastic. Also the bolle tint has a sliht reflective quality with it, just like their sunglasses. I've had paint protection on all my new cars over the years and honestly i havent noticed the difference. I just keep the polish up to it. Save your cash and go buy yourself a good rotary buffer and some good polish, meguirs/auto glym, etc etc

u just dont know wen ur misfortunes come around (hopefully u dont get any)
my personal experience
i had a ****** come and key my rear gard and i had motor one come out and look at it last week - i rather pay $30- then pay a $300 to $500 to get it repaired -
-Just organising wen i can get off work to take it to his workshop cause he recommended that repairing it on the spot willnot look good and will be able to notice it been repaired and the best way is to bring in to him

Reason: swearing
is paint protection some kind of warranty on ppl scratching your car? or is it some kind of wax or film they put on the paint or what?
Paint protection I thought was some sort of teflon coating (or similar) that locked in the shine so you cleaned away the dirt etc to reveal the shine again.
The scratch protection is something different I believe but no idea how it works or what it is exactly.
