  • Tossing up between to styles of rims... Need help!

    Okay, I need some help.

I am either looking at buying Chicago rims or Zolder rims. Here are some amateur photoshops of both on my car.

    Zolder

    Chicago

Everyone feel free to put in their input

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say!

Hmm tough call. I'd say Zolder if you're after a slightly sportier/aggressive look; and the Chicagos if you're after a slightly classy look.

If the rest of the car is staying stock I think I'd lean Chicago.

(FWIW what matters most is what you think.. but I love a second opinion when it comes to car stuff myself!).

Chicago, zolder's were the weird R32 wheels we got here while the rest of the world got omanyt wheels.

Also chicago looks cleaner and easier to keep clean.

IMO Zolder. I think they make the car look nice and clean...

Thanks for your input everyone, but I'm still undecided

I have loved the Chicago's forever but the Zolder's have just caught my attention. Cleaning the Zolder's might be a deciding factor as I curse having to clean my current Classix... But the thing is if I'm getting Chicago's they will probably be from cars (Passat's) that are wrecking for parts. That kinda put me off. Should I be worried?

i know how tough it is to find decent wheels, i'm still looking.
I would go with Chicago, goes well with your car

Zolder looks the ducks nuts I reckon! If it were me I'd go Zolder even if they're harder to clean...

Why would chiago's be from wrecked passats.
More likely from owners who upgraded to a more sports oriented wheel.

Even if they are from wreckers, doesn't mean the wheels are damaged
                      I'd go Chicago's

That's the only way I've managed to find them, other than pay $2500 to get replicas from ECS Tuning shipped over from the US.

Yeah I agree, I'd definitely go check out the wheels before I'd buy them. I'm worried about buckles in the wheels that I may not be able to see though.

Buckles that you cant see are easy fixed by re-rolling the rim at a worst case scenario
Only huge buckles that you see, and I'm taking big ones may not be able to be re-rolled

My Range Rover wheels had two slight buckles that no-one saw and they were easy re-rolled and it's perfectly fine to have them rolled again

IMO stay away from replicas though, original wheels are a lot stronger

                              Bought a set of 5 Chicago's today!

They were off a wrecking Passat and while they were pretty scratched up they looked still in good nick, nothing that can't be fixed. Worse case scenario is that one of them where the car got hit will be too damaged to repair (I doubt it) but I've still got at least 4 good wheels. Best case scenario is I now have a spare too Cost me $700 all up. Pretty stoked

Only question now is does anyone know of a good wheel re-finisher or would recommend any? Preferably in the northern suburbs of Melbourne where I reside
