Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • GTI front emblem

    Hi,

Long story short, someone pinched my front round VW emblem at least they didn't key my car.

Can anyone confirm 1T0853601AFDY is the correct part number, I found an original VW emblem on ebay with the same part number (under a different car) for about $30 shipped, versus $65 from the dealer.

The other option is a a gloss black red (aftermarket) emblem

Would you think it would suit my red GTI, or stick with the original, noting that my car is stock?

Red/black combination look OK for me.

        hmmmm

I contacted the seller of the red/black emblem and he responded like an ******* so I purchased the OEM instead.

I'm still tempted to buy the red/black but from a different ebay seller.

The red/black looked good. Red highlights always go well on GTI's

I ended up getting the OEM but still want to order the black/red one if I can find a different eBay seller.

when I sell the car, I'll put the OEM one on.
