  • Just about to buy 2007 Jetta TDI

Hi guys Im just about to buy a 2007 Jetta manual TDI with 135k on the clock. Just wondering does this model suffer from the cam issue? If it does is it common? I have been doing some searches but havent found it about this particular one. I found that its not common rail so I guess its rare to have injector issues. Any other reliability issues with these cars I should be aware of?

The car drives fine and has plenty of power everywhere as it should. It has a full VW service history and the major service has been done.

    Thanks

The PD TDI requires a cam (timing) belt at 4 years or 105,000km. Check if the VW service history has done at either at the time or distance aforementioned. You mention 'the major service has been done'. Is that the 105,000km service?o the belt prolly been done.

I've done 168,000km in my TDI manual (MY07) built Aug 06 and delivered Oct 06. Touch wood no problems since new.

The engine may burn some oil between services so look out for that.

You'll find that VW tend to use brakes quicker than Japanese marques.

Otherwise this model Jetta IMHO is the nicest because of the chrome trim, nice big boot and economical fuel consumption.

    I hope all goes well!

    Cheers
