Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Different air con. and fan blower problem

    Hi,

I have a bit of a different problem with my air con in my 2007 MKV GTI. As follows:-

    - Air conditioning is working OK except after about 1 hours driving the fan blower air reduces down, even when I adjust the climate controller down to low temp and turn up fan speed.
-When I turn the fan blower speed on high the blower appears to be working within the dash (you can here the blower getting louder as the fan speed is turned up), however no forced air is coming out of the vents
    - The only way I can power up the fan blower and air con again is by turning off the air con completely. The longer I leave it off the longer it seems to stay on, before the the fan blower dies down again.
    - Can still feel cold air (slightly) at the vents during this time

This is a pain when travelling long distances and when temperature outside is 27 - 40

Any ideas on what the problem may be ? Seems to be a air temp sensor that may be getting cold and turning down the air conditioning fan speed (hence why it works again once it has been turned off completely for a while). Does anyone know where the internal cabin temperature sensors are located in the MKV?

    Cheers
    Mike
