  • Bluefin Installed:-)

Bluefin! (installed on: manual GTI, 2007)

Just a few thoughts/review after my unit arrived today and I uploaded the tune this evening

Choice over others – no particular reason really, cost, can keep device for another car, not as much boost as other tunes – so perhaps a little easier on the car. They were probably my deciding factors

Install – I am pretty computer illiterate but had no problems loading everything as per the instructions – all up probably took an hour.

Car now – S@#T THE BED – I have never driven a tuned car before, but thought Id better give it a try after coming across these internet forums and wondering what I was missing. Completely different car – heaps more responsive and the acceleration from 60/70 to 100 in 3rd or 4th is amazing.
Can get a bit of wheel spin here and there and felt scarily quick (to me)
Going to have to get used to it and be careful in the wet.

Sooo, have not driven a heap, but a massive difference from the stage one tune – the car just wants to take off after about 2.5-3krpm, but feels completely stock pottering around.

    Sounds like it's running well.

Not really spoiled for choice with tuners in Tassie are you!?

Are you seeing any differences in fuel economy?

Seriously considering buying a bluefin but my golf already drinks so much juice I couldn't do it if it made it worse.

Not sure on fuel economy yet as I have been booting it a fair bit.

Just wondering - have just noticed that its still very hot under the hood after being not in the car for maybe 1.5hrs is this normal and something that I just have not noticed before..? or because of the tune and everything working harder..?

They stay hot for ages, don't worry about it. You wouldn't have noticed.

If the coolant gets hot from heat soak. The fans cut in anyway.

I've got a 2005 Golf TDI 2.0 and did a Bluefin Stage 1 remap. Not sure about the GTI's, has definitely made an improvement in response and especially noticeable in the higher gears like 3rd, 4th etc, in the wet was getting wheel spin in 3rd gear.
The fuel consumption doesn't seem to be much or any worse would say it's definitely not better from what I can tell, as they do say it's meant to improve economy, but is still good was getting 4.9l/100 on the highway doing 113km/hr just then, but goes from 4.9 to about 6 on average depending on the road and conditions.

I've just got a K & N stock higher flow air filter and a Aeroturbine exhaust muffler going to a R32 style out the back.

There's a brief video also VW Golf 2005 2.0 TDI MK5 Aero Turbine Exhaust 2525XL with R32 Rear Bumper and 4" tips - YouTube
