  • halogen reflector headlamp no longer adjusting

So i noticed my GTI has a lazy eye.

Further inspection has found manual adjustments still work.

This isn't such a big problem as I rarely use the headlight adjuster once it is all set nicely but a more annoying issue is the realisation that the stepper motor inside the housing seems to be running constantly creating a buzzing noise!

Has anyone had this themselves and were you able to fix it without replacing the whole headlight assembly?

hey mate i dont know about how to fix it but if you end up needing to replace a headlight then go here, from what i can see they look in pretty good nick.

Sounds like your leveling motor has stripped its internal gears. So now it keeps running as it is trying to get the adjusting rod into the right position for the sensor to pick up where it has to stop - but of course it can't so keeps going.

You can always pop it out and maybe open it up to confirm.
They are not hard to take out.

Make sure you replace it with correct one.
