  • Hi, just new Jetta owner with questions

    Hello all,
I have just bought myself a Jetta FSI Turbo with leather trim, sports seats, and loving the drive. Far from the days of my old japanese car. So much fun driving, accelerating and the turning!

I do have a question for you Jetta owners
    1. Sports leather seats - is your front and passenger seats all leather around? I notice on the bottom horizontal part of the seat (where you sit on) on the side facing the arm rest for both seats, that its fabric - not full leather.. not a big deal but I noticed it today. Is this the case on your car?

    2. Just a comment. A bit disappointed I didn't get the MY08 Jetta. I ordered it at the beginning of December, thought it was coming off the ship, instead came from another dealership and realised I don't have the nice MFD plus unit (with the conveninence options) and no MP3 compatibility in 6 stacker CD... disappointed . Thinking that you ordered in December 07, I thought at least I would get the latest model - but found out my build was March 07!!!

    Look forward to your comments

    Congrats on your new car.

I have the same fabric inserts on my leather seats - probably a cost saving exercise, but doesn't really worry me.

MY08 Jetta - probably should have confirmed with the dealer on that one, but as I have the MY07 model, still a BLOODY good unit.

    Enjoy your new car m8

G'day Jettaman, Congratulations on the new Jetta....though I am still waiting for my car I can tell you now you will not regret your decision. I ordered my car in September and am still waiting. I did confirm with the dealer however that I was getting the MY08. Apparently cars built after July 07 were MY08.

Not sure which dealer you went to, but I was told that there was a Turbo FSi Jetta, with leather coming off a ship in December and it was fully optioned. I did not take it as my Mrs wanted the beige leather on the pearl black exterior. So off to the factory I went.

With regards to the MP3 compatibility, I did not think the CD changers were capable of MP3s. It was only the single drive in the head unit that was compatible.

Lets us know how you go with running the car in etc. I am envious of every jetta on the road right now because I am still waiting for mine.

I also thought I was getting MP3 capability in my Jetta. When I explained this to the dealer, they quickly offered to put in an ipod adaptor - for free!

Now all I have to do is buy an ipod - or steal my son's!

question - have you got an CD changer and iPod connected to the head unit? which head unit do you have? I asked my dealer if I can do the same but he told me I get one or the other. Not both

            Hello all

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome.

Reassuring about the non-leather sides - I thought they ripped it off another cheaper model.

I guess I should have confirmed the MY08, but I wasn't savvy to using forums to research new cars ( I just used review sites to research )

With regards to the CD changer, the Jetta multiple page colour brochure mentions if you get either the FSI, TDI or T-FSI, it should be MP3 compatible. I guess I knew it was a bad sign when there was no MP3 imprint on the CD player ( like I have seen with others ).

I will probably order an IPOD adapter (researched the USA SPEC one ), and will install it myself into the RCD500 unit radio player. I didn't want the OEM VW IPod adapter given its functional limitations - and I wasn't given an option by my dealer n:

I guess with time, I will forget about missing out on these extras; I am so happy with the drive of this car - its really fun - conservative looking, with some suprise grunt underneath! I can already feel the 'D' mode getting use to my driving style. Love the feel inside the car (quality), 10 speaker stereo is amazing, and simple things like autolights, and reverse dipping of L mirror is great - also the remote boot open is nice touch.

            Thank you
            Jettaman

Yes - the S mode is nice. I'm afraid I would stick with 'D' mode normally, and then go to Manual if I want some control. Using S-mode all the time; would I presume use more fuel than D
