  • GTI Aircon Not Working

Hey guys, my aircon has decided to stop working in the last couple of days in this scorching weather coupled with rain, so it's definitely a bad time.

As soon as I turn it on the auto function it raises to around 4 from the end and then goes up to two from the end, but no air is coming out. The Vents are all open. I'm not getting any CEL's either, but I haven't had a chance to scan the system.

Any ideas of what it might be?

    Thanks,
    Jon

Hoping it's a cheap solution and not something major. >_<

I have the same issue on my 2.0 FSi (assuming the same aircon system?). I had it checked and was told that the compressor is not pumping, and needs to be replaced - $1800! .....they also mentioned that if the condenser is found to be blocked when they do a a flush of a system, it will be a further $800!
I need to do a Cam Belt asap, so I'll probably grab a compressor (US$400) from ECS along with a Cam belt kit and water pump and do the lot in one go!?
I'll keep my fingers crossed that your's isn't the compressor, but I have read that these are a weak point on the mk5's!?

Damn presto, that sucks man. :\

I went to Volkstech and they reckon it's just a blown resistor. I'm going to VW to get it replaced so we'll see what happens then. It's now throwing an error code in the VCDS saying no power to fan. I'm hoping that's all it is.

Search my recent thread - pressure sensor failure, gas escaped etc.

            $500 to fix via Stealership.
