  • Exhaust help

I am looking at buying a cat-back for my TFSI Jetta, been looking heavily into the Milltek non-resonated as I've heard mostly good things about it, as well as being recommended to me by a VW specialist. I have had an estimate at around $1000 installed from this same specialist, but then have looked online to find I can get it from the UK cheaper, around the $350-500 mark with shipping included. Is the big price difference just due to the specialist having overheads to cover?

Generally though, I am looking to spend around the $500 mark with installation hopefully, any other brands I should consider? I am after a nice sound that I can hear from inside the cabin, but not too loud. Just to be picky I'd prefer more of a deeper sound that I can hear on start up and cruising as well as WOT, with not too much drone.

Hopefully I can get some pointers in the right direction, websites and places to visit to get more information.

    Thanks

$300-$500 is a good price! I paid a fair bit more than that but i purchased the full turbo back system at the time.

Most of the retailers here in Aus. will simply order it in for you from the UK and slap on their margin. Shipping is pretty expensive given the size.

Before purchasing, just make sure its definitely the Jetta version. The golfs are slightly different and will not fit. More info and pics on this in this thread.

I cant speak for the resonated version, but the unresonated has a slight drone to it.. but again, this is coming from a full system (and on a diesel too!)Once you get the revs up though, its great!

Also depending on your rear bumper, you may need to modify it slightly for the tips.

Thanks for your reply, I was wondering where you purchased your exhaust from? I currently am looking at either Awesome GTI - Volkswagen Audi Group Specialist or VW / Audi / Seat / Skoda - Performance Tuning.

Yeah I inquired an exhaust shop if their golf exhaust would fit and was told I'd need a different system. Thanks for that thread showing the difference. I can deal with a bit of drone, as I tend to usually have my music loud haha.

My bumper already has a cutout for the exhaust tips because its the turbo model, I'm assuming yours is a TDI so doesn't have the cutouts on the bumper and thats why you had to modify it?
