  • MK6 Badges onto MK5

    Hey everyone,

I am getting a set of wheels painted to a gloss/metallic black and am wanting therefore, to buy gloss black badges for the front and rear (Not matte). However, am having a lot of trouble finding them, where the shipping is any where near reasonable.

I have found a set for a decent price that fit a MK6. My question is are the badges front and back on the MK6 different to those on a MK5?

Here is a link to the badges in question: Front and rear black badge emblem set glossy VW Golf 6 MK6 GTI | eBay

    Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I have looked through and was going to buy that with a front one. Until I got to checkout and it says:

This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order.

Bit of a disincentive there. I just logged on to their site and got to checkout stage and it said ...

Well that is a lot more reasonable. Any one have any idea why it says shipping for me would be so high?

Logged in as well. Tried changing the address to my work address and still had the same issue.

Just plastidip it or go to a powder-coater. Or even do it yourself. It's really easy to remove the VW Badges and then all you gotta do is prime them and choose the colour you'd like. Don't go spending $60+ on 'em when you can do it for 1/4 of that.

I want it to be reversible and also am not in the slightest bit experienced with painting or plastidipping. So I see this as probably my best option. Although I may have a better look into plastidip

Yeah plastidipping is a way easier alternative than just buying two brand new emblems. I also don't think the MkVI emblems will fit onto the MkV.

MKVI rear emblems I know won't be a direct fit - the MKVI rear ones had a few extra splines on them (that I was gonna lop off and it would have fitted, but have no catches on the lower half). There was also two generations of MkV rear mech's as well - an earlier flat mount one and a later curved mount 2-piece, which is closer to the MkVI ones.
