  • Spark Plugs 2.0 FSI

    Hi Everyone,

Well today I took my golf 2.0 fsi for it's usual service, The Mechanic told me that he changed the spark plugs as well, i was kinda baffled as to why he would change them, as there were changed 10,000km ago. He said that they were really in bad shape, He showed them to me, and they were black and sooty, with only a hint, of whiteness on them. Since the 2.0 FSI is a direct injection motor, I was wondering whether the it's normal for the spark plug to look like that ? I can upload pictures of the spark plug if anyone wants a better picture. Thanks

    Hmmm...

They only need to be done every 60,000klm.

I replaced our plugs last week.
      Here's a Picture.
They gave us 40,000k's and showed no driving issues. I just replace things as i please before scheduled intervals.

      I Used:
      NGK PFR7S8EG
Paid $22ea from Repco - price beat Bursons.

That's how mine look, but instead of 40,000km, they have only travelled 10,000km. should I be worried ?
here is some pictures of 2 of the spark plugs

Nice brownish tinge there, spot on, no need to change and should be good for 60K

I would have thought slightly rich. but then again, I'm not an expert. although.... I'm not a fan of that type of plug.

Got mine done today (54K) at my old work, before travelling to DoVW in Victoria, thought better to be safe than sorry.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but what plugs do you guys recommend for the 2.0fsi naturally aspirated engine? Temperate climate (5 - 25 degrees year round sort of thing). Don't need to be long life as happy to change regularly if not particularly expensive. Thanks!
