    Oh, and I forgot.

Check your hight for parking underground in shopping centres, hotels, going through macca's drive through etc...

Not that I've done it yet, but I'd imagine that there is nothing more embarrising than having all your holiday stuff scattered about the place

Spot-on JP. I'll echo your findings - we have a Thule pod which provides an additional 480 litres of luggage space and has little effect on car handling. Knocks fuel consumption slightly, but still a better compromise than driving a large car all the time.

We have both a 2003 Liberty sedan and 2007 Golf, and although the Liberty's boot is rated at 430 litres vs the Golf's 380 litres, the protruding boot hinges on the Liberty mean effective luggage capacity is no more than the Golf.

        Hi JP,

I've been looking for a pod/roof rack combo solution, may i ask where you were able to buy these from?

        cheers

If you want GTI like performance with more room, but still staying in the VAG family, have a squiz at an Skoda Octavia RS, the hatch has a much bigger boot than a Golf, and the wagon has even more carrying capacity (note that I could be seen as slightly biased, but so is pretty well everyone ).

I bought this package from Haig Park in Canberra (Mitchell). The racks (heavy duty sports items) and pod (Carver 8.5) are both from Rhino.

I expect that you would be able to get these (or other brand equivalent) from any roof rack city type shop.

I am currently trying to convince the missus to consider the Octavia wagon 2TDi, but the silly girl is scared of the 'unknown brand' of Skoda (even though it is VAG)

            Good luck

              Thanks for the info

              Hello all,

Thanks for the quick response, I'm in Sydney so I'll just look for a roof rack place, (I was just impressed with the pics you posted).....with regards to the Skoda, I am really happy with our 2.0 TDI Comfortline , and with the way the market is, we're a couple of years away from another car.

              thanks again!
