Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

My mate who owns a VW dealership just tod me they have released the Candy White R32 to Aus and they are also doing 500 Yellow Pirelli GTi's with 165kw's....

with only 6700 k's on my Candy White GTi, im going to have to trade it in... I dont really like yellow, but a white R32 - very tempting....

hhmmm...i dunno about the candy white R32. in theory, it sounds great. talking about something that will look mean and clean.

however, after looking up this thread (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3417753), i feel that the candy white gti looks heaps better. contrast between the black grill on the white is something special (very jealous of those that got a white opposed to my black).

the r32s whiskers and silver grill is too light and gets lost in the white. really needs to be darkened - maybe to a gunmetal grey for the contrast factor...plus make it look 10 times meaner.

still...i wouldn't complain if someone gave me a white r32!

            thoughts?

not a fan of white R32's - too soft for an aggresive car, also without the black GTI grill up front - looks too plain.

But, put my name down for the Pirelli - which is basically the EDITION 30 but only in yellow. *don't like the yellow color tho... but who cares, it's got the S3 engine!!!

Seems like VWA have done a back flip, as they specifically stated back in July/August they would not be bringing the car in due to "cooling" problems.

The cynic in me now thinks they will market it at a ridiculous premium over the standard GTI, by limiting the numbers, like they did with the Mk IV R32.

i spoke with my local dealer and they confirm the CW R32 but they stressed that VWA has asked for a supply of the Pirellis but it's not confirmed yet.

for sure...either of those would suit it much better.

regardless - i would still stick to black or united grey for the base colour...

also find it a little odd that they are releasing the CW R32/pirelli coming to the end of the mkv's life cycle. is it fair to say that oz might see the new standard mk6 end of 2009 or early 2010, with the next R32/36 golf six to nine months after.

unless you have a money tree, you order a CW R32/pirelli, take 4-6 mths for delivery, brings you to mid 2008, 18 mths later the mk6 comes out.

plus we have the possibility of the new sirocco coming to town...

They released the Mk4 R32 close to the end of the cycle. i think there were even still a couple for sale when the Mk5s first came out

I asked VWA about the Pirelli edition yesterday, this is their reply:

At the moment there are no plans to introduce the Golf Pirelli to Australia.
