  • Please Help! Multifunction IPod/Aux/USB cable with standard 6-stack CD player

    Hi All,

Recently purchased a 2007 Jetta FSI. It has a standard 6-stack CD player (not navigation, screen etc.), and it came with a cable hooked up in the glovebox to connect either IPod, Auxiliary or USB (has all 3 inputs).

Tried to hook up my usual MP3 player (which I have no issues with on other USB inputs in car systems), but there is no button on the head unit to actually change the input to the cable (MP3 player). The only options are for AM, FM and CD (along with the usual buttons for settings, TP etc etc.)

In the book, it said to plug the thing in, and continue pressing the "CD" button until it shows "AUX" on the screen - but it never happened. I pressed, held, smacked....nothing.

Has anyone got this cable installed and/or knows how to use it with this head unit?

    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks Guys,
    Christian.

On my RCD500, i just push CD twice and it will select an "external input".

      Hi,

Does it work when you have CD's in there?
What do you have plugged in to the cable?
And finally, does the head unit select/show "external input" even if nothing is plugged in?

Thanks for your help. Just trying to figure out what is different/wrong with mine.

      Thanks,
      Christian.

On the RCD300 I used to have in my 2007 Jetta, the iPod adapter emulated an external stacker. The iPod played as Disc 6. Maybe try that?

YES - that work well if is CD inside. Just push CD button twice and that's all.

Ok, played around a bit last night...and figured it out (was quite funny when I figured it out).

My car has a Parrot Bluetooth unit installed which cuts out the head unit when calls are made/received. Turns out, the USB/Ipod/Aux cable is linked to the Bluetooth unit, not the headunit. So, when the USB is in, need to select it on the Parrot unit, and it subsequently cuts out the headunit and plays through the standard speakers.

Interestingly, the sound quality from the Parrot unit through the factory speakers is far superior to that coming from the headunit (i'm not even sure how this is possible, must have something to do with the equaliser settings or something). So yes...I have it working, just very strange lol. Thanks for the help though.
