Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 105K Jetta Service 147TSi

Hi all, first post besides intro.

I'm interested in a trusted service centre to replace the timing belt and 105k service in the wifes 8/08 Jetta.

We've always used Camberwell vw and have been happy with them so far.
However recently having our first child and the items that are purchased and delivered to the front door when im not home... means I've gotta tighten the wallet a bit!

I hear Burwin have one of the best service depts.?
I live closer to Frankston VW and have a price of $890 for just the belt and approx $380 for the service.
add an additional $180 for the water pump - which i think is rediculous not to do it when you've gone that far.

Is there anyone else that is reliable, and has excellent workmanship?

Also is it worth replacing the timing chain/tensioner to get that nice quiet 'petrol' sound back instead of typical 147kw 'diesel' noise.

    cheers in advance.
Working...
