Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Getting my GT TDI this week

Well I just got to see my new GT TDI sitting at the dealers on the weekend - still has to get detailed before it ready to pickup but it looks like I'll have it in a dew days.

One thing I noticed looking at the car in the lot is that its not as aggressive looking as the GTi and at first I couldn't figure out why. Then I realised that although the front bar looks to be the same (minus the honeycomb and red line of course ) its actually missing that tiny little lip at the very bottom and of course its missing the side skirts. Boy does it need them!

Now I've already decided that i want to get an R32 rear but am undecided whether I should just get an OEM Gti front lip and side skirts or go for some aftermarket lips and skirts?

Anyone know what the best and most cost effective method would be? I don't want to even ask the dealer how much they would want for an OEM item but surely there must be some shops in Australia or some web-based shops I can buy from that can help me?

    Congrats.
What options did you get, what color did you get. Is it manual or DSG.
I, as most of us here will be interested to hear your toughts on the car once you've had it for a few days.

Im jealous, I've still got about 2.5 months to wait and it really is killing me.
I'm getting a GT Sport TDI DSG, Blue Graphite, Bi-Xenons & Leather.

Ive already got my custom euro plates sitting at home, all i need now is the car to put them on.

        G'day Poyta,

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, and I'm really enjoying it, however, like you I noticed very early on (before I took delivery in fact) that it just doesn't look mean enough. So I have ordered some Gti side skirts (about $350), and I'm getting a price on the Gti rear bumper today hopefully (it looks great with the top section colour coded and the lower part left black - R32 style).

I'll get it all colour coded when I get the skirts and rear bumper fitted, and then get it lowered. I'm also looking at changing the wheels very soon, so in a month or so, it could be a very different looking car indeed!
