  • MKV GTI Low beam H7 connector clip removal Help!

    Ok,
&%$#@!&% After wasting 45 minutes I cannot for the life of me remove the the H7 (low beam) connector clip (ie the connector before you move the spring clip thingy) . Am upgrading bulbs.
Can anyone give me a heads up please what the trick is? Do you squeeze somewhere, press part of it, twist- it just wont budge. High beam is easy to get off as you just twist the whole unit.
    Thanks (In anticipation!)

Mmm.................... tried that can't get the globe out as the spring holder behind the connector does not have enough clearance to pull it out while the Hella connector is still latched on. Any way wires are then too short (they are still connected to the Hella connector) to allow for the bulb to clear enough room for complete access.

How is the connector normally removed, just pulloff or are there tab thingys I need to push in etc on the Hella connector for it to detach?

Not laughing at you mate but the start of your thread was priceless. Upload a pic if you can. Normally try hold the connector at each side and push in whole pulling out.

OK stop laughing - I realise that I'm probably also talking about the high beam, ie the inner headlight closest to the grill, it has a black Hella connector attached to the back of the bulb. I've pressed it on either side , twisted it , massaged it, (not that there is much room to get a good grip either) spoken nicely and sworn at it, and it still won't come off.
Even manged to unclip the actual back of the clip which reveals the terminal connectors. Next step is either gradual dissection or a hammer!

A photo will take me another 30 minutes (not being very technical) when this time could be spent much better by keeping on swooning the 'black limpit!'.

ok so i did mine this weekend past pretty easy to do. Get the cap with the wires off first by wiggling off. Be patient and use a little force as they get pretty stuck on after that comes off unhook the metal clip by pressing down on it slightly till it unhooks and moving it right. make sure the globe goes in the same way u took it out with the notch facing up.
              Hope that helps
