  • What's a fair price? (2006 Mk5 Golf 2.0 TDI DSG)

    Hi folks,

I have recently taken delivery of a Black 2012 2.0Tdi DSG Golf to replace my Black 2006 2.0Tdi DSG Golf and was wondering what would be a fair price to advertise it for sale.

I've owned it since new and have had it logbook serviced exclusively by a reputable VW dealer.

I drive about 50000k's a year commuting up and down the Bruce highway to Brisbane resulting in an odometer reading of 272,000k's.

The following parts have been replaced

    GT1749 Garrett Turbo
    Coolant Flange
    2 New injectors
    New Injector loom
    EGR Cooler Valve
    EGR Valve
    AC & Radiator Fan
Front & Rear rotors and pads
Inboard & Outboard CV boots replaced
    New Windscreen
    New Hoodlining

Car is fitted with factory tow bar, factory body kit, factory interior rubber mats. Aftermarket seat covers/seats underneath as new, carpet as new.

I'd rate the paint 9.5/10 and the interior 8.5/10

Minor interior blemishes on the interior include

Rubber sorrounding volume button worn & rubber on drivers and passenger side window switches also worn. Very easy and cheap to fix.

Personally I'd replace the DMF at next service if I was to keep it.

    What's your thoughts?

Mod could you please move to MkV forum?

Those r beastly kms u do. U must like driving? I can't drive long distances without getting sleepy. I only manage about 20k km a year

I used to work in Brisbane 5 days a week, but now only 2. It's a 200k round trip.

Just had a look on carsales. Range is from 10-15k. None have as high km as urs and the closest is at $10990. That's what people want, so I reckon they would be getting actual sales under $10k for a high km example.
Being realistic, I would think that If ur keen to sell, then a price of $10k would be the absolute limit and u could move it around the $9k mark

I'll give you an idea. I just bought a 2005 Golf 1.9 TDi for $7000 with 280,000 klms....no mods, interior a bit tired, exterior very good condition. It had a new gearbox and clutch 30000klms ago at a cost of $6500 !!! .... and a very good documented service history.

I was looking for a cheap runabout and was looking at mkIV Golfs with around 150 -170000 klms, but I took a gamble with this because I prefer the MkV shape....and the diesel fuel bill.

But most of the MkV with high klms go for around the 8 or 9k mark.

I recently saw an 05 1.9tdi DSG sell for $7500 and it only had 160k on it, very clean exterior as well. Unfortunately Australian's are scared of high kms cars, however us educated dubbers know a diesel golf will easily last 500k if its well looked after.

Based on the current market I think you would get 8 or 9k. Which is a shame, almost not worth selling for that type of money..
