  • mk4 to mk5!

    Hey guys,

Well having sold my mkIV Bora a while back, ive finally got myself a mkV GTI Pirelli! Thought I'd come say hi in this part of the vwwatercooled world

Needs a bit of touching up on the outside with some dings and chips, but nothing too major.
Have already purchased a set of Golf R brakes from Oli, so looking forward to getting them on once they arrive.

I know I 'need' to chip it, but for now (and whilst I'm low on funds), it feels quick enough (coming from a 2.slow).

Will be getting round to fixing up some scrapes on the front lip, and spraying the centre part (front and back) black when I find time.

For now just enjoying it! Look forward to meeting everyone...

    Cheers, Ben

oh and some photos I took of the beauty

Looks like that thing handles like its on rails! Had to be said. Something about those wheels and the colour coding which sets the pirelli apart. Well done! Nice car.

Haha I had not even thought of that one! I can't even begin to describe how nerve racking it was getting it up on those tracks...

Well last night I had some time, so first cheap mod was tackling the Garage Door opener Mod, as i was sick of searching around for my remote to open the gate.

It took a little longer than planned due to a terrible excuse for a dremmel (my electric toothbrush has more power!), and a tough circuit board to wire up, but we got there eventually and I am very pleased with the outcome! a couple of pics...

the button/switch (I was too cheap to purchase a genuine VW push button, so used this and one of the blanks...

Back of the blank button cut in half and then cut away for clearance:

Wired/glued in place and taped to the bottom of the ashtray cover. looks messy as anything, but it is just to hold it in place and wont be seen.

And finally all back together, it is the far right button! Sadly i scuffed the top of it slightly, but it isnt too bad. The range is slightly less than before, but not a problem so far.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a new 'shifter surround'? As you can see mine is all chipped and messed up.
          Thanks!
