"...I, Costanza am Lord of the Idiots..." - Does anyone have any idea on what the stock standard boost level is on the MkV FSI 2.0L Turbo engine. Please be gentle...I'm only curious

a guy on vwvortex site says he sees 14psi in 1st and 2nd gear and 15psi in the taller gears. Is that high for a turbo?

Doesn't sound extreme to me ... that's about 1 bar (not excessive).

well while on the subject of boost can anybody explain to me why VW put a boost guage on the car but failed to provide any indication of boost number, ie bar, psi, etc? Seems a bit of wank factor with just the needle on the gauge but no indication of what that boost figure is.

Probably for the same reason they put inaccurate speedos in their cars.
Seems like a bad joke to me.

Is the 2.0 turbo in the GTI and Jetta TFSI intercooled?
I've had a quick look under the bonnet and I can't see any recognisable bits... i.e. turbo, intercooler.

Stick your head under the drivers side wheel arch and you should see it towards the front of the car.
