  • Vw penrith don't know SH*T

I had my DSG replaced totally just 18months , i was told by Barlo VW it came with a 2 year warranty on top of the remaining warranty on the car,
Well a couple of weeks ago i was traveling from Batemans bay to Canberra over the range there are many sharp hairpin bends my car went to neutral on 3occasionss when i was rounding these hairpins, so today i decided to go to Penrith VW
and see if i could book the car in for diagnosticic check and see if there were any fault codes,
The warranty manager at Penrith told me the Warranty ran out with the cars warranty [13/2/12] i told him it had a seperatate warranty of 2 years from [18/2/2011]he told me there was no such thing and i would have to pay for any work needed?
So i rang Barlo at Fivedock and and gave them the information and they said it did have a 2 year warranty and bring it in for a check, i then rang VW Australia who also stated it had a 2 year warranty, armed with this i rang Penrith back.
But those who serve there still would not believe me.
As penrith is close to home i thought they would be the place to take it ,but now i have to go to Five dock just to get it checked out .
A warning to all Vw owners don't take your car to Penrith ,as they dont know any thing about even their own vehicle warranties ???

I would make sure you have something in writing from VW Aus and Fivedock so you have a fallback plan.

I would then take this to Penrith and get them to fix the problem!

Its just inconvenience of taking the car 35km to Barlo Vw , thanks acknowledgment to car has a 2 year extended gearbox warranty and i have booked it in on the 27th at 7am, but VW Penrith should also know the Gearbox has a 2 year warranty,
Penrith tried to tell me it only had a warranty till the cars warrranty ran out . Even if it was one week.

parts are covered by 2 years if fitted by the dealer i think. And this is irrespective of any warranty on the car. Its from the date its fitted.

You would think that Penrith VW would know that,?

Component level repairs are not always accessible or easily found when a dealer that did not undertake the repair searches your VIN. VW will know about it, as they authorised it, Barlo will also as they did the work - but I reckon if you went to another dealer you would have the same situation as with Penrith.

VWA if it is under warranty will ultimately make the decision if it is or is not, but I can't see why they wouldn't allow Penrith to fit it if you requested that as an outcome.

I had taken the work sheets with me to Penrith showing the warranty work done and the date of installation of the new DSG box, so there was no reason for their refusal to except it was under warranty .

Penrith VW are crap. I bought my Polo GTI from there and had nothing but dramas with them. I would never recommend them to anyone.

You need to establish whether it is in fact a Barloworld warranty (All licenced repairers need to offer some sort of warranty on their repairs, by law), or a VWA warranty, and have it in writing.

Understandably, the mob over at Penrith would be reluctant at turning a spanner on it, until they know for sure who is footing the bill.

The aproval for the new Gearbox was from VW Australia after all the codes were sent to Germany , so the work was authorized by VW Australia.

You need to find out if the transmission itself is still under warranty.
