Car Bras for Mk5s?

I thought the same thing. Unless you are tailgating someone on a highway, your chances of getting a stone chip are pretty slim.

I saw some of this film stuff on a mates parents Barina, the paint under is a completely different colour to the paint on the rest of the car.

I know my car is 14 years old, but I do a 800km drive every couple of months, and never have any issues with stone chips, even gettting the thing sideways down gravel tracks.

Are car bras safe for the car? Do they cause more damage than protection? Thinking about getting one for long drives.

Sorry, that's not a correct statement. I got a broken windscreen from a car travelling in the opposite direction on the SE Arterial at Kooyong. That's in the city, no gravel road sight.

All roads and highways will have stones dropping off trucks and cars, and breaking out of the surface, and these will get picked up and create stone chips and broken screens.

If you've never been on the receiving end, you are just plain lucky.

The Venture film and the 3M film both allow uv light through and the paint underneath will age at the same rate as the rest of the car. The paint on Barina's is crap and if anything it's an issue with the paint not the film unless they used some cheap film.

Both Venture and 3M offer a lifetime warranty against discolouration. Why you would discount the benefits of PPF when it's clearly a fantastic product and offers protection to vulnerable parts of the car shows a lack of understanding of how the product works and the benefit it provides.

I've never picked up a stone chip tailgating, I don't know where you drive but I drive in a place where there are trucks carrying gravel that drop it, where car's flick it up and even oncoming traffic can flick it up and where the roads have damaged areas and shoulders that are not sealed and getting stock chips is easy.

This film protection may not be everybody's choice, however, I tend to agree with Maverick, and think that possibly Runamuck is a very lucky driver if highway cruising has not resulted in stone chips. In my experience, stones generally swing out from the wheel and not always straight behind. If flying stones was not an issue, then I am sure all those windscreens being broken must be someone's imagination.
I do most of my driving around Sydney, and still get the occasional flying stone from either a car or truck in another lane, or from one coming the opposite direction. In a different car, I recently did a trip from Sydney to Perth and return. I thought I was being extremely lucky to have travelled 1,000's klms without a problem. However, going through the hills of Sth Australia, I had the misfortune of having a truck travelling the opposite direction on a bend, spray my car with blue metal. I counted at least 10 chips across the front of the car. One incident, but so much damage.
Also, with this film, providing you maintain the paintwork on your car, you should not see any paint shading between the area covered and that not covered.
Like I said, it is a personal choice to use this method, and it may not be everyone's ideal solution. But, it is a viable solution, which just may save the front of your car from looking like it has the pox.
Another good point about the film is, in Summer, all those bugs over the front of the car, simply wipe off the film with a little vigourous rubbing, whereas they can really effect the paintwork if left unattended.

Err, um, oh, ok (acting suitably chided ). At my age it doesn't take much to trigger a wandering mind....I think it's the mad cow (offers excuse hoping to be let off....).

What was the topic again?? Oh - yes, I'm thinking seriously of using the Ozicozi on mine as well. I'd hate to think what it would cost to have a bunch of chips repaired, and the blue graphite would be a difficult colour to match up, not to mention the difficulty of matching the finish. Possibly only the CW would be "easy" to match up.
