Engine knock on start up

Hi All,

Only when i start the car (doesn't matter if it is a cold or warm start) there is a a knock just prior to the engine kicking over. There is no lights flashing on the dash, nothing else whilst you drive.

Any ideas what it could be???? Engine Mount?? Exhuast mount??

is it a thud or a shudder or a knock ?

Might be worn engine mount/s - or perhaps you are just hearing the DMF (dual mass flywheel) shudder into life as the engine starts.

It's a knock. Just took it again for a drive, knocked once only in start, drove normally from then on. Stopped the car then started it again, and the knock is there. Booked in to have a look at on 22/8.

Based on his Sig he has a 2.0t jetta, which was DSG only.
