  • Flat spot on hard full throttle acceleration. MKV gti manual

    hi guys.

Just a quick thought - 2006 mkv gti , dead standard.

Attempted my first boot with a mate - off street ofcourse - and noted a definite flat spot in the upper RPMs end of 2nd gear to third gear. Almost like fuel cut considerably before redline. 1st to 2nd has TCS flashing on the dash as it scrambles for grip but 2nd to 3rd and no lights just a flat feeling.

    Normal ?

a quick goole search tells me possible issue with camshaft or similar - some maybe aware or not

    Symptom:
-Fuel cut-out when driving, esp. under WOT.
-Fuel cut-out symptoms range from soft pulsations of power to long-pulse bucking while in high-gear high-load situations (high gear at WOT, or up a grade). MIL may flash if cut-out is severe. Car will also go into hard-limp (no boost, 4500RPM limit) if severe enough.
    -MIL ON
-P0087 Fuel Rail / System Pressure - Too Low
    -P1093 Fuel Trim 2, Bank 1 Malfunction
-P2293 Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance

    Solution:
Increase surface hardening of camshaft lobe for the high pressure fuel pump. Improved intake camshafts have Part No. 06F109101B. Refer to TSB# 15 07 04

IF its the issue - does anyone have info on the process on replacing the camshaft and associated parts ?

It's pretty straight-forward, but still labour-intensive due to the complex arrangement of all the ancillary parts.

          just and update -

I took advantage of big Gav's (artist currently known as h100vw) visit here in Sydney. Took him for a blast around the streets of Strathfield and then back to his temporary porn dungeon in the City. The only real issue seen was a PCV fault , and that the ECU could not be read.
Ill jump onto fixing up the PCV issue with a catch can setup and await Gavins magic RE: ecuin'

A big thanks again to Gavin from Custom code - ill post his email here incase i forget
