Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Smooth maybe. But not terribly fast. I was more than a bit disappointed with the performance of these MK Vs. My eyeballs still hurt from all the lights on the dashboard, the roof, the steering wheel, vanity mirrors, console, gearshift, door knobs, ashtray, footwell, glovebox...............

If I spent even 1/10 of that sort of money on my MK I my eyeballs would be flattened against the back of my skull!

Close encounters of the MK V kind!

        Sensational!

Haven't driven the petrol versions but the diesels are just sensational. Handling, drivability, performance are just incredible. Can't say I was "Blinded by the Light"! Not wishing to be a Ludite however, it's a good point that you could spend a whole lot less modifying a Mk1 and have one hell of a car! I'd start with the brakes........
