Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • TDI idle adjustment

    Hi guys
Can anyone tell me if its a simple adjustment to adjust the idle speed on my 2009 1.6 litre TDI (with DSG)
Got it home from the VW sevice shop yesterday after a warranty EGR cooler replacement and find the idle speed too high at over 1000rpm.
Is it just a sigle screw like most petrols I've owned in the past?
Don't want to drive 100ks (and 100ks back)to the workshop to have it adjusted if I can avoid it.
    Thanks anyone

You can't adjust it, take it back to them.

Oops! Think I've been sucked in by a
DPF "burn". Idle's back to normal 900 rpm.Never witnessed one in 2 1/2 years of ownership.
(Beware the machine thats just come out of the hangar!!) Sorry mechanics
