Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Am considering buying a set of roof racks for my new (07) MkV Golf 2.0 TDi and would appreciate any info regarding where to put them in relation to the small black button in the middle of the top of the front door openings.

The set I am considering does not have any instructions.

Have there been any recent alterations to the fitting of these?

    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

if you have purchased a kit designed for your car you will not have a choice of where to mount it. under that cover should be an anchor point.

Do a search on this forum I recall someone trying to sell some just last week.
Most likely in the sell threads.

I tried the factory racks for my golf and was nearly deafened by the wind noise, even at slow speeds (60kays). I bought a set of rhino and these fit really well. No where near as much noise, and very easy to remove and replace when needed.

interesting comment. i am trying to sell these...and to be honest, hardly noticed the noise at all. this is coming from someone with super hearing that picks up the slightest rattle from my umbrella in the boot.

will admit, there is noise if i have my sunroof open and going about 70-80ks...then again there is wind noise anyway from the air flow into the car.

appreciate that everyone is different...but for me, nothing is better than having original equipment for the car.
