  • who makes R32's oem exhaust

    hey guys,

my local vw dealer told me that the MKV R32 OEM exhausts are made by MILLTEK!
Is there any truth to this??

Or is it made inhouse by VW? if it's true then who makes the exhausts for MKV GTI

    i doubt it.
theyre made in the UK. Most VW oem VW exhausts ive looked at have been made in germany by an OEM supplier. Although i know nothing about R32s

VW like most car manufacturers source their parts from supplies in various countries.

The R32 wheels (Zolders) are made by Ronal in one of their factories in Slovakia. They have factories in various countries.

Ronal also sell their own line of aftermarket wheels however their main business is OEM wheels. My old SAAB 9000's wheels were also made by Ronal.

So it is quite plausible that Milltek would have a business supplying OEM exhaust systems.

Mind you if they did, they would be building strictly to VW engineering specs, not their own.

plausible yes! I just dont think its likely.

Someone needs to go crawling under their R32 and find the manufacturers markings. Its usually stamped on the mufflers! thats the only way to settle this one

I did that while my car was on a hoist. The only markings i found were Audi/VW/Seat/Skoda logos (i think there was a Porsche one as well, but dont quote me on that). Mine is an MK4 though

Quite often the OES is not allowed to put their name on the Original Equipment product, they only do so for the aftermarket.

                            Hi Guys,
Milltek definatly do not do the R32 system. They do make very nice aftermarket systems though as i have one on my 06 GTI.

Probably Bosal or somebody like that as they are one of the OE suppliers that VW use.

                            Cheers,

                            Simon

Quite right, George. In fact it's very rare to find a manufacturer's marking on OEM parts. A good friend is a designer for Schefenacker, who supply 40% of the world's car mirrors, and many manufacturers insist that the parts are blank or marked with their own logo. A few manufacturers DO allow them to mark the mirrors - mostly on their underside (in the case of exterior mirrors). Schefenacker supply OEM parts to Mercedes, Audi, VW, Ford, GM (and GMH), Mitsubishi and so on. And not just mirrors - stuff like overhead consoles, power window switches, indicators, and so on. The vast majority are 'Brown Box' deliveries.
