Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My R32

Well, it seemed like it would never come, but it did. The delivery date for my R32 was yesterday. Picked it up late afternoon, and was absolutley over the moon with excitement. I know you have all heard it before, but, the thrill was priceless. Highlights for day 1:

    - Build quality
    - look and feel of the car, very sporty
    - exhaust note when you stand on it
    - feel of the DSG transmission
    - accelleration was pretty impressive
    - our 20month old son getting super excited about the GOWF (thats him pronouncing it, not another acronym BTW) and cracking the poohs until we got back and went for another drive.

I have only done a bit of back street driving plus a freeway trip out to Epping and back, but its all good so far.
    Pics to follow tonight....

I thought it was going to be one of those "naked reflection" type pictures for a second.

                  You'll love it....

I'm 8 months in, and still finding excuses to do anything that involves getting in and driving..

I've had the Jetta 15 months and still doing that. And the missus still hasn't got behind the wheel!

I'd love to tell you all that the wait is nothing, but ITS A KILLER!! Already had my first trip back to Spare Parts to get some rubber floor mats for the front, My work means that sometimes i have very muddy boots, which is not nice on the new carpet. I was impressed with the fit and finish of the rubber mats, and they weren't too expensive either (compared to Subaru) at $90 the pair. Anyone in Melbourne would know that yesterday was the day for mud!

Took the beast over to show off to a friend (who has Mini Cooper S - also new) so we had a little squirt in both. Totally different engine, transmission and drive train set ups, but interseting all the same.
