  • 2008 MKV MY09 GTI - value?

    Hi VW experts,

I want to get a Touareg 150TDI and move on GTI (a 2008 MY09 car).

It has 35k kilometres on the clock, black paint, leather, sunroof, 5 door, DSG. I also have the additional 3 year warranty (to Dec 2014) which I purchased shortly before the original warranty expired.

What is a realistic value for trade-in or private sale?

If I go private sale please give me a sensible number which will sell in a reasonable timeframe (a lot of people I've noticed ask unreaslistic prices for 2nd hand cars and they stay up for sale for a long, long time).

Redbook upper range (assume this applies as 35k KM is lower than the 60-100k km range given, and there is leather and roof) is $22k for trade in and $26,400 for private. What are views on these numbers given specs above?

    Thanks

I might put my 2c in.. not sure about trade in but I was in the market for GTI recently and I would say a fair price for private sale MY09 w/ sunroof + leather, low kms.. probably 27-28k... keep in mind if you advertise 28 someone will likely try to offer 1k less.

IMO with the new golf on the way this will soon be an even older shape. I would pay a max of $25,000 for a Mk5 with those options these days. You may find someone that will really appreciate the low km's and warranty and you might be able to get as high as 27-28k like the previous poster said.

Put it on for a low priced quick sale and give the trade-in a miss..
